Impressions For The Heart™
Making a difference....one clay print at a time

"A person is a person, no matter how small."

Impressions For The Heart™
founded in 2004 by Kathy Taylor

One day while working on some clay prints in her studio, Kathy realized how she could help other grieving parents in the same situation as her. Kathy had lost an early term pregnancy and felt that she continued to grieve in part because she didn't have any physical remembrance of her baby. That day an idea was born, that when a family lost a baby she could take a clay print of that child's hands and feet and offer it as a keepsake. The only question was how do you begin something like that?

She then met a staff nurse at Kootenai Medical Center and their conversation was the beginning of what would become Impressions For The Heart™, where Kathy provides a complimentary clay print for those who are suffering loss due to losing a child during pregnancy, terminal illness, or tragic accident. A service provided at no charge to the family, hoping to promote healing through the grief.

"It's hard,"she says. "It's really hard. But in the midst of all this, it helps me to be a better person - a better mom. Kathy Taylor

Testimonies:

Margaret Boyd lost her husband Bill suddenly in 2005. A good friend had heard about Kathy and arranged for an impression to be taken. Kathy then added his children's hand prints to the impression of Bill's. When Boyd saw Bill's hand in the clay, she reached out to feel it. The lines of his hand, the shape of his fingers, and the imprint of his wedding band pressed into the clay. "It was Bill", she said. Margaret said the piece has been invaluable to the whole family and has been a tangible source of healing and recovery."

"It means so much to have something of our daughter that we can touch and see. It is tremendously helpful in processing our grief."
Nikki, lost her baby at 22 weeks.

Since 2004, many families have received a gift from Impressions For The Heart. "It takes a team to get the job done," says Kathy. Thank you to Sheryl Hanna at Kootenai Medical Center for the ongoing support of a program that has touched the hearts of so many people.
